Looking Forward!

This was a flyer that I created to promote a shared birthday between myself and three other very talented Sagittarians. The night was hosted by multiple bands and performances, while 2 walls covered the room in abstract visuals. Thanks to all who made it such a wonderful night!!!  My apologies to those who I didn’t get to catch up with. I was bought one too many birthday Chimays.  Thanks again guys!!

I am enlightened, and I am in love. Such inspiration found here!

Especially with sound design! Wow. I have never felt so captivated by sound design like this.

Make sure to take a peek at the artist’s website: http://www.silvanderwoerd.com/worms/film.html

This is the kind of work that talks to my soul.

Black Moth Super Rainbow

With a name like that how can you not love them? These guys have gotten me excited about cohesiveness between visuals & music. I saw them play at Mercury lounge a few weeks ago and it has since inspired all of my new visual work. Vibrant, colorful, positive, soulful, fresh. It is exactly what I’ve needed to leave the mundane work behind at the end of the day, and open new doors towards the art I want to be making.

Pour Your Body Out

Last weekend I ventured to the MOMA on a crowded Saturday. I headed up the stairs to check out the recent Miró & Van Gogh exhibits, but before I could get there I was stopped in awe at their 2nd floor atrium. A new video installation was being worked on and it was intense. I’ve just recently started on my own personal venture with projections, and seeing this was like a gigantic leap from my soul. I know that this is a big part of what I’m meant to do.

The exhibit opens today and it’s called Pour Your Body Out. Swiss artist, Pipilotti Rist, created an all encompassing video projection that takes up the entire 2nd floor and swarms around you with vibrant color and light. On Monday night I went to hear her speak at the MOMA theater. Her demeanor is bright, quirky, thoughtful and quite bjorkian. A woman after my own heart. I’m greatly inspired to see the installation as a whole, and to keep such things in mind as I go forward with my own attempts.

Wedding Montage Rough Cut 1

Never in my life have I shot & edited a wedding before, but when I was asked to do it, a favor for a friend, with a castle as the backdrop, I agreed. I’m in the process of cutting a DVD worth of all the material, but first, I decided to cut a short version to music as a little synopsis of the ceremony. The music is by David Gray, called “This Years Love”. I shot this with a SONY HD V1U.

The cut and soundtrack are in a very rough state but it has come a long way since the beginning. After sifting through 8 hours of footage I’m proud to say, here is the first stage of this montage.

Late Night Experiments

This is a result of an experimental night spent with my mac pro. I cut the vocals out of the song and strung together a quick rough cut of all the designs that came out of me last night. The elements used are a combination of print work that I’ve done, footage I’ve shot, as well as found footage to add texture.

Song is by the Knife called Silent Shout.
